How people process an experience?
#215 - Mar.2025
Three levels of how people process an experience according to Don Norman:

The visceral level. Immediate of the reactions. Unconscious. Driven by the perceptions of the body. Focus on leveraging colors, harmony, and structure. Bringing order to chaos.
The behavioral level. Where the promise meets the expectation. Sense of control and knowledge. Focus on providing clarity and continuous feedback.
The Reflective level. Stage of cognitive and slow thinking. Deriving the meaning of the experience. Focus on emotional design. Think about the positive and negative memories.
Design is about navigating at all levels.
Remember that emotions trigger thoughts, and thoughts trigger emotions.
