[Weekly Retro] Create and edit

# 17 - Sep.2023

Happy Friday!

Here is a quick idea before you head off for the weekend:

Creation and editing modes are two very different states of mind. While I'm writing these words, my editing side argues against them: are these the right words? Are you conveying the right message? Is this worth sharing?

Creation requires momentum. While framing is good, is much more important to bring the raw ideas into reality. Download them from the abstraction of your mind. This applies to any creative endeavor: art, music, writing, etc. Continue with the flow without restrictions. Formless.

Editing adds structure. Reduces clutter. Brings clarity and connects points. Editing requires ruthless focus to remove distraction, distilling what's important. Editing clarifies the meaning.

What happens when you use both at the same time? Stagnation.
