[Weekly Retro] Functional, performance and excitement

#42 - Mar.2024

Happy Friday!

💡 Here is a quick idea before you head off for the weekend:

Looking for a simple prioritization framework on what to build first? Use these three buckets:

  1. Functional. Features that cover the basic functional tasks. This should be your top priority to avoid users struggling to accomplish simple tasks.
  2. Performance.  Features that are not mandatory but they add convenience to the experience.
  3. Excitement. These are the small surprises and unexpected experiences that connect with users' emotions.

50/30/20 is a good ratio to balance all three. You don’t want a product full of wow effects but failing to cover the basics.

Start with a solid foundation and move towards a memorable product.
